Modern Mr Eurovision, Thomas G:Son will be competing on two fronts yet again for a trip to the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade this May. Already known was his entry in Belgium, but he will also be competing in Poland with the song “Viva la musica”. esctoday.com spoke to Thomas today about his latest song to be selected for a national final.
esctoday.com spoke to Thomas about Poland, the band and, couldn't resist asking if he was annoyed with Sweden after missing out on Melodifestivalen 2008.
Why poland?
"I dont know actually. I liked the song and we thought it would be good for Eurovsion, so I sent it and they liked it."
The title is in Spanish again, is it in the same genre as I love you mi vida and Ven a bailar conmigo?
"It's a bit different I think, darker, it's a pop song and the boys perform it well."
Do you think you can win in a 4th country or maybe even 5th with Belgium?
"I don't know, it's impossible to think about it, I'm just enjoying the ride, they are fresh competitions for me, so I'll just wait and see and have fun."
Are you annoyed with Sweden?
"Of course! No, honestly, I've been involved with Melodifestivalen for so many years so it was always going to happen. It's impossible to have a song every year. I wish them well, and I hope I'm back in Melodifestivalen next year."
How did you get involved with Man Meadow?
"I've worked with Fredrik before, he was dancing with Anna Book in Melodifestivalen 2007 and sung backing vocals for Belarus in Helsinki. We wrote this song for them and they liked it. It turned out very well and we were all pleased, so we sent it off".
Viva la musica is written by Thomas G:son and Alexander Rikstrand and will be performed by Man Meadow at the Polish national final, Piosenka dla Europy 2008 on 23rd February.
