Back in 2000, “France 3” organized a televised national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, live from L'Olympia in Paris. Many hoped the ballad Espoir to win the competition… but it didn't. Espoir was performed by Jessica Ferley, who is still in the business, and has recently recorded a new version of the song.

Although she has not reached fame yet, Jessika (now with a "k") owns her own myspace websitewhich provides fans with a new version of the song Espoir. The singer's biography deals with the Eurovision experience and reveals that the entry received a grandtotal of 21,000 televotes on the Big Night. Unfortunately, Jessica only finished secondin the selection, as the system – like in 1999 and 2005 – wasa mixtureof the jury's opinion and the public vote at a 50-50 split, not considering at all the difference of phone calls between the candidates !Anyway, it seems that Jessika is now preparing an album and that she has developed a repertoire of more black, gospel and soul pieces… as well as a new look.

As for Espoir, the song was included in the original soundtrack of the film La vie d'artiste (but not on the CD, as far as weour investigation concluded), which was shown on screens last September in France… but was not a big hit.

A video clip of the new version can be seen here.
