In a little more than a week we will know one more song for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest as the Cypriot final is scheduled for the 12th January. This year's show, A song for Europe, promises to be spectacular with an impressive stage and very special guests.

A song for Europe will be hosted by Andreas Ektoras, a popular Cypriot singer, and it will feature last year's Cypriot representatives Evridiki and Dimitris Korgialas as guests who will perform their brand new songs. Eurofans will also have the opportunity to see more familiar faces but that is something RIK saves as a surprise.

Rehearsals start next week and the stage is already complete at the studios of RIK 3. All participating artists have recorded a postcard, Eurovision style, where each performs their favourite past Eurovision entry. The final winner will be decided by a mixture of professional jury vote and televote at a 40-60 split.

The show will be directed by Klitos Klitou who will also direct the 2008 Junior Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Limassol on 22nd November. Like past years the show will be webcast through CyBC's site.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
