Armenia: Song title chaged for Genealogy

Genealogy, who will represent Armenia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, have officially changed the title of their entry.

Following a request from Armenian national broadcaster AMPTV, Genealogy’s entry will now be called Face the shadow.

The band reassured fans on their official Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GenealogyOfficial that only the title of the song was changing and NOT the song itself:

The request to change the title of the song – originally called Don’t deny – was granted by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group to (according to Head of Delegation Gohar Gasparyan, on behalf of AMPTV) ti strengthen the concept of an anthem of peace, love and unity and to eradicate any suggestion of political intent.

Face the shadow is composed by Armen Martirosyan with lyrics by Inna Mkrtchyan.  The video, a product of AMPTV, is directed by Aren Bayadyan:

Genealogy and Armenia will seek to qualify from the first semi-final of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place on Tuesday 19 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna.  They will perform during the first half of the show.

Armenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest of 2006, with their best results to date being fourth place finishes in 2008 (Sirusho, Qélé, Qélé) and 2014 (Aram Mp3, Not Alone).

Do you believe there was a political intent behind the song?
