This year, the viewing figures in Belgium for the Eurovision Song Contest dropped even further. With Walloon participation for 2007, the number of viewers in both Flanders and Wallonia fell. The final of the Eurovision Song Contest, once again without Belgian representation, was watched by 607.679 Flemings, good for a market share of 33,36%.

In 2004, when Xandee was directly qualified for the final, 1.838.000 Flemings watched the Eurovision Song Contest. Ever since, Belgium has never been able to qualify for the final. In 2005, the year of Nuno Resende, 753.000 Flemings watched the final. Last year, when Kate Ryan was eliminated in the semifinal, 1.026.000 viewers tuned in for the final.

In Wallonia, the interest in the Eurovision Song Contest is still dramatically low. Only 162.541 French-speaking Belgians watched the final of the Eurovision Song Contest last Saturday, 30.000 less than the 191.000 viewers the semifinal broadcast on La Une attracted on Thursday.
