Estonians support EU Eurovision

One of the largest newspapers in Estonia, Postimees, had a poll on their website about the future of the Eurovision Song Contest. The final results show that 2/3 of the voters would like the Eurovision Song Contest to be held between the European Union memberstates.

With over 2100 people voting, it makes a good indicator of the current situation and thoughts about the Eurovision Song Contest in Estonia. 66,1% of the voters said they would prefer the Eurovision Song Contest to be held between the EU memberstates, 26,5% stated thenational juriesshould be brought back and 3,6% preferred regional contests. Only 3,8% of the readers were satisfied with the current situation.

Estonia finished 23th in the semifinal of this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. It has to participate in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest semi final again in Serbia to compete fora place in the finalnext year.
