It was the 12th of December 2006, when it was announced that Sopho Khalvashi will represent her country, Georgia, to the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki this year. The song is called Visionary dream and its a ballad with folklore elements and Sophos warm voice. This is Georgias first entry in the contest.

But who is Sopho (or Sofico) Khalvashi?

Sopho Khalvashi is only 21 years old. She was born on May 31st , 1986 and she lives in the city of Batumi, administrative capital of Adjara Autonomous Republic, Georgia. She is on the fourth course of musical school specialising in the piano and oboe.
She started singing at the early age of 3 in front of her family, immediately everybody realised her talent and encouraged her to follow her charisma and attend the music school. Since she was a teenager, she tried many times to make her dream come true with little success back then. Three years ago, in 2004, the effort paid off when she took part in a song contest and won the first prize. However, real fame came later when she participated in her first International contest that took place in Latvia ending up 3rd . She received many proposals for an international career, which unfortunatelyshe refused and returned to her homeland, Georgia.
She wishes she could visit Ancient Greece to find out how people were living in those days and her favourite expression is "He who searches, always finds!”

Here are the lyrics of Sopho’s song Visionary dream:

I'll dream of tales and rhymes
In visionary dream
This precious moment of my life
Holds me excited

I will fly away
To reach the heights I've ever dreamed
Beneath the sun
No sense of time and space

Anticipation of your light
Holds me excited

Clouds containing lakes
I'm near the haze of pouring light
I feel embraced

Sailing through my story
Sharing my history
Sailing through my story
Sharing my history
