This week, the BBC finally revealed the names of the six finalists that will battle it out in the 4th annual Making Your Mind Up show for the United Kingdom's ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest. The show takes place at the Maidstone Studios on the night of Saturday 17th March at 19:30 local time (20:30 CET). esctoday.com were there to cover the event and were granted video interviews with all six finalists. Special guest presented, Michael Hill also spoke to the show producer and the United Kingdom's Head of Delegation, Dominic Smith about the line-up, his views on the Eurovision Song Contest and how he rates the chances of the United Kingdom at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.
CHANGES IN BETTING PATTERNS
William Hill have reported that:
"Brian Harvey has attracted the lions share of money as the betting opened yesterday on the UK Eurovision selection show, Making Your Mind Up. The former East 17 singer is still rated as the third favourite will bookies William Hill, behind Justin Hawkins and Liz McClarnon, but his odds have been trimmed from 4-1 to 11-4 for him to win and become the UK representative in Finland in May".
William Hills spokeswoman Jennie Prest said, "We made Justin Hawkins the favourite yesterday, but if more money keeps coming for Brian the betting could soon switch around. Brian seems confident about his song, but, given the UK's recent Eurovision record, it will have to be extra special to give us a chance in the Song Contest itself."
Hills Bet for Making Your Mind Up:
2-1 Justin Hawkins & Beverlei Brown
9-4 Liz McClarnon
11-4 Brian Harvey
7-1 Big Bruvaz
