Malta: Firelight to fly the Maltese flag in Copenhagen

Tonight Firelight won the final of Malta’s Eurovision Song Contest national final, MESC 2014, meaning they will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with their song Coming home.

Firelight came first out of the field of 14 finalists when the six judges votes were added to the public vote, which acted as the seventh judge.
Firelight finished with ahead of Daniel Testa and De Bee in second and third place respectively. You can see the winning song below:

Malta will perform in the first half of the second semi-final at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen on 8 May.

Malta are yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest since their debut in 1971, but have finished second twice, in the 2002 and 2005 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest, with Ira Losco’s 7th wonder and Chiara’s Angel.

Last year, Gianluca Bezzina won MESC 2013 and represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Sweden, finishing eight in the grand final with 120 points.
