TVR has released information about the first Romanian semi final which will take place on January 27th. It will be hosted by Catalin Maruta, host of TVR2 morning show and the popular boy band 3rei Sud-East who will “behave like real warriors against kitsch and bad taste” as the Romanian broadcaster states.
The six acts that will proceed to the final will be decided by televoting and jury vote at a 50-50 split. The interval act will include many Eurovision Song Contest all time favorites such as : Nel blu di pinto di blu (Volare), What's another year, Diva, Every way that I can, and Congratulations performed by Romanian artists.
A back up plan has also been prepared in the event the winner of the final is unable to go to Helsinki. An "alternative Eurovision" will be organised, and the best male and female voices will be selected to replace the winner in case of an emergency.
The highlight of the show will be a "boxing match" – a different one in each semi final. In the first one, Luminita, the Ruthless Nightingale ( Romania 2005) will enter the ring against actress Luiza, Fear of scale !
