RTE, the Irish national broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that it plans to reveal the names of the 5 candidates that will compete in the 2014 Irish Eurovision national- Eurosong 2014 final by early February.

The Irish broadcaster will reveal both the names of the 5 acts along with the titles of their respective bidding entries early next month, once all 5 bidding entries are submitted. RTE has once again opted to select its Eurovision representative via a national selection with 5 mentors.

RTE has opted for the same format as in previous years, hence 5 mentors will have the responsibility on selecting the 5 potential entries/candidates for Eurosong 2014. One of them will win the golden ticket to Copenhangen.

The 2014 Irish national final Eurosong 2014 will be aired live on the Late Late Show on 28 February on RTE 1.

RTÉ has decided to retain the same mentoring procedure for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and has appointed five new Eurosong 2014 mentors in the search for a winning Irish song.

The Eurosong 2014 mentors : Billy McGuinness,Hazel Kaneswaran,  Cormac BattleValerie Roe and Mark Murphy have already selected their respective acts and songs and have submitted all the required data and details to RTE. Currently they are working round the clock along with their respective acts in order to record their bidding entries for Eurosong 2014. The recorded songs must be submitted to RTE by early February.

Ireland has won the Eurovision Song Contest a total of 7 times ( 1970,1980,1987, 1992,1993, 1994,1996) and is the country that has won the event the most times.
