Yesterday Dutch broadcaster AvroTros announced that the Netherlands would go internal yet again in their quest to select their 2014 Eurovision, and that the 2014 Dutch representative will be revealed on November 25.
This announcement has triggered off massive reactions and speculations throughout Holland. Major Dutch newspapers and media are speculating that Dutch country music singer Ilse DeLange will follow into Anouk’s footsteps and represent The Netherlands at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark.
Ilse is among one of the most sought after singers in The Netherlands today, enjoying fame and recognition. Ilse’s songs have enjoyed major success on home soil, her singles So Incredible and Miracle, have charted high in the Dutch charts.
Ilse DeLange is currently one of the judges in the popular tv show The Voice of Holland aired on private Dutch television channel RTL 4. The same private television channel reports on their website RTL Boulevard that Ilse DeLange will most likely fly the Dutch flag in Copenhangen next May.
Dutch broadcaster AvroTros remains tight lipped regarding the matter, but speculation and rumours regarding the 2014 Dutch representative are rife. We will have to wait until November 25 and see if Ilse will get the golden ticket to represent The Netherlands at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.
The Netherlands debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and is one of the founder members of our favourite television show. The country has won the event 4 times (1957, 1959, 1969 and 1975).
