Bosnia Herzegovina: BHRT confirms participation in Copenhagen

BHRT, the Bosnian national broadcaster has informed and confirmed to esctoday.com that Bosnia Herzegovina will participate at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest next year in Copenhagen.

BHRT’s Mr Dejan Kukric (Head of Bosnian Delegation at Eurovision Song Contest, Head of Bosnian Eurosong project and former member of the ESC Reference group) has confirmed to esctoday.com BHRT’s and Bosnia Herzegovina’s participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest next year after a year of absence. He told esctoday.com that the broadcaster will be working and targetting on financing the Eurosong 2014 project and Bosnian Eurovision participation and via companies and sponsors, hence not using public money for this project.

The Management Board of Radio-Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) has announced today that  Bosnia and Herzegovina will compete at the forthcoming 59th  Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. BHRT will submit its application for participating in the event by 22 November 2013, the  preliminary application deadline set by the EBU .

BHRT and Bosnia Herzegovina decided to opt out of the competition  last year due to financial reasons . The financial  situation has not improved since last year , hence leading to the broadcaster to find a solution ie a new mechanism in order to compete next year. Hence BHRT’s management board believes that a solution has to be found in order  to satisfy the Bosnian viewers’ interests and stop distancing itself from the EBU,one of the most most important European  public services

BHRT’s Management Board has decided that the project BH Eurosong 2014 will have the  the status of a special multimedia project which can only be launched and become operational by the principle of self-financing .

BHRT will form a partnership with various  companies and organizations, potential sponsors in order to make the BH Eurosong 2014 project operational, thus reaching all its goals and objectives.

Bosnia Herzegovina withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 due to financial reasons. Bosnia is the 30th country to confirm its participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest so far.

Bosnia Herzegovina debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 with Fazla’s Sva bol svijeta and is yet to win the contest. The country’s best placing was a 3rd place in 2006 with Hari Mata Hari‘s Lejla.
