Germany's national final for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest will once again take place in the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. The format will be the same as last year. Dr. Jan Schulte-Kellinghaus, NDR's Eurovision Song Contest coordinator explained that it is likely that once again, there will be three finalists and the public will select the song to go forward to Helsinki. The show will take place in early March, the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
German broadcaster,NDR, areplanninguse the same formula as last year to select their entry for Helsinki. Last year, it was re-introduced that everyone is allowed to submit a song. Nevertheless, some artists were directly asked by NDR. Although not 100% confirmed, it seems clear that the current plan is to present three finalists for the televised final, with the public selecting the winner through televoting. The participants will be confirmed at the end of the year.
Last year, German entry Texas Lightning were one of the fans' favourites to win the Eurovision Song Contest. They were left disappointed, finishing in a surprisingly low 14th place with only 36 points. NDR "want to bring the Contest to a higher level and hope for the best decision of the audience, to finally bring back Eurovision Song Contest to german soil"
