Dutch broadcaster NOS had just announced the details of the 9 songs that will participate in the Dutch national final, Nationaal Songfestival 2006. It appears this year's Dutch national final will not contain any ballads.

On 12th March, Maud, Treble and Behave will compete for the Dutch ticket to Athens, singing three songs each. Each participant picked a song from the public entries, and the other two songs were selected by the artists and their management from familiar song writers.

Treble
1. Amambanda (lyrics and music: Treble)
2. Lama gaia (lyrics and music: Treble)
3. Make your choice (lyrics and music: Jerry van der Wolf)

The three songs are all uptempo songs. The first two are sung in an imaginary language, the Treble-language. This will be Jerry van der Wolf's second appearance as songwriter at the Nationaal Songfestival. In 1997 he wrote both the lyrics and music to the song Laat het los, sung by Mrs. Einstein. The song finished fourth.

Behave
1. Maybe tomorrow (lyrics and music: Michiel Cremers & Gerjan Schreuder)
2. L.A. baby (lyrics and music: Michiel Cremers & Gerjan Schreuder)
3. Heaven knows (lyrics and music: Dick Kok)

Two of the songs can be called uptempo rock songs, a third song is somewhat mid-tempo. The first two songs are written by two of the band's members. All songs are in English.

Maud
1. Im alive (ladida) (music: Ronald Seerden, lyrics: Ingrid Mank)
2. Without your love (lyrics and music: Tony Cornelissen & Allan Eshuys)
3. One more try (music: Joachim Vermeulen-Windsant, lyrics: Maarten ten Hove)

All songs are described as swinging uptempo songs. They are all sung in English. The first two songs are written by familiar song writers of Maud. This will be Allan Eshuys' second appearance as songwriter at the Nationaal Songfestival. In 2003 he co-wrote the song Hotel 't hart, sung by Blauwdruk. The song didn't survive the semi finals. Next to that, Eshuys recorded the song She would (also from the Nationaal Songfestival 2003), together with the late Glenn Corneille, after the latter broke up with Sofuja (Boris Titulaer).

The Nationaal Songfestival takes place on 12th March in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. During the first voting round, a jury will select the best song of each artist. In the super-final, the televoters have the last say; they will decide if Behave, Maud or Treble will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens! Due to Glennis Grace' disappointing result, the selected participant has to go through the semi final on 18th May.
