Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO received a record number of 107 songs for its 2006 Eurovision Song Contest national selection EMA. Last year, the public broadcaster received 103 songs.
The open competition closed three days ago, on 20th November. A selection committee will meet to listen to the songs and choose 14 that will go through to EMA 2006. The shortlist of selected songs will be announced on 5th December at a press conference, when there will also be a draw to decide the running order.
So far, only a few names have leaked to the press. Sa�a Lendero, Ylenia Zobec and Anika Horvat submitted songs, according to the Slovenian media. The only group to publicly announce that they have entered a song is comedy pop band The Drinkers, singing the remarkable song I don�t want to go to Eurovision.
Slovenia will select its song for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest on 29th January.
