Tonight the first semi-final of the Romanian selection better known as Selecţia naţională will take place. Sixteen acts will compete for six spots in the final to take place on 9 March.

Paula Seling and Ovi who got a respectable third place for Romania in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will once again host this year’s Romanian selection. Two other hosts will be Andreea Bănică and Marius Rizea. Andreea is a popular singer in Romania while Marius is an actor and comedian. The six qualifiers will be decided through a 50/50 split of public and jury vote.
