Belgium: Eén and La Une present Eurovision coverage

The Belgian press gathered last night in Brussels where they had a last opportunity to interview Nuno Resende before he will be leaving for Kyiv. The journalists present have been presented the preview videos of this year's participants and Flemish broadcaster VRT and French language broadcaster RTBF presented their Eurovision Song Contest coverage.

Eurovision Song Contest coverage in Flanders
Flemish broadcaster VRT plans an extensive coverage of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. As of today, the favourite songs of the Belgian press will be presented in the daily showbizz program De Rode Loper. As of 18th May a reporter will be present in Kyiv to follow the preparation of Nuno Resende and his competitors.

From 18th until 22nd May, Het journaal (the news) will bring reports about the preparations in Kyiv and the importance of the Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine and its people. Also Nuno Resende will be followed. The current affairs program Terzake plans a report about the host country, six months after the Orange Revolution.

On Flanders' most popular radio station Radio 2, the programs De Zevende Hemel, Zig Zag and Muziekmakers will closely be following the events in Kyiv.

The commentators and spokesperson
On VRT's first channel Eén, Anja Daems and André Vermeulen will see for the commentary. Daems and Vermeulen already did the job together in 2000, 2001 and 2003. André Vermeulen has been commentating the Eurovision Song Contest since 1991, except for the year 1996. He believes that Nuno Resende can reach the final: “it's possible, because his song is unique in its genre of classical French chanson.

On La Une, the first channel of the French speaking community broadcaster RTBF, this year's national final host Jean-Pierre Hautier will be welcoming the viewers. Journalist and La Une presenter Armelle (pictured) has been appointed to announce the results of the Belgian vote in the final of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.

Nuno Resende and the RTBF delegation will be leaving for Kyiv tomorrow. Belgium participates in the semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest on 19th May with the song Le grand soir.
