After 10 years, Sergio and Xandee quit Touch of Joy, the project that made them break through in the mid 90s. Sergio, who represented Belgium at the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest, today announced that he will no longer record new songs with Xandee.

The history of Touch of Joy
Xandee was 9 when she met Sergio for the first time. For a long time they sang together just for fun until they released their first single together as Taste of Joy. In 1996 Xandee and Sergio finished third at the Debut Contest of the Golden Stag Festival in Romania. Later on they topped the Romanian charts and scored their first international hit with Keep on moving.

In order to avoid problems with a Canadian band with the same name, Taste of Joy became Touch of Joy. In no time, the Flemish duo became a true hit machine in Flanders and scored many hits in the Utratop charts.

In 2002 Touch of Joy disappeared from showbiz land. Xandee started a solo career and Sergio participated in Eurosong 2002. Sergio won with the song Sister and went on to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn. In the summer of 2003 Touch of Joy made an unexpected come back with the single Be ready. In 2004 it was Xandee's turn to try it solo in Eurosong with the known result.

Sergio: 'I am not going to do this anymore'
Sergio today cleared the sky about Touch of Joy. “It is a long time ago since we have recorded a record with Touch of Joy. I am not going to do this anymore. For me, this chapter has been closed. Every record I will still make will be solo.” Nevertheless people can still book Touch of Joy “but you have to see that as booking Xandee and Sergio together,” Sergio added.

Sergio goes Las Vegas, Xandee goes rock
Both Sergio and Xandee have plans for the near future. Sergio will change his repertoire. “I want to bring songs with a high Las Vegas level. Songs of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond Show tout court, but also rock songs.” Sergio plans to release a new single before this summer.

Xandee is currently working on the follow-up album of 1 Life. She announced to leave the dance music behind and to turn to rock. “I'm dreaming of performing with my live band at some festivals this year. We're currently recording news songs and I can promise you that it's gonna be a new Xandee. Strong and powerful!
