During the Eurovision Song Contest week in Kiev, an exhibition of modern photography is to be held inside of the Sports Palace, the venue of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. The name of the exhibition will be We, the people of Eurovision.
The concept of the exhibition We, the people of Eurovision is to exhibit a series of large-sized close-up photographic portraits of typical representatives from each of the countries participating in the Eurovision Song Contest and to make a gallery of human faces pertaining to the majority of the European countries.
“It is a great idea to organize such an exhibition since its concept and design organically fit into the interior of the Sports Palace, as well as add to the overall attractiveness of the contest this year,” says Pavlo Grytsak, Executive Director of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest 2005.
“We take this exhibition very seriously and will make sure that during the week of Eurovision a panel of experts selects the best photograph from the exhibition and awards its author a great prize,” Grytsak continues. “In April we will also conduct the Ukrainian internal selection procedure and determine which photograph will represent Ukraine at this exhibition.” The Ukrainian internal selection procedure will be carried out under the supervision of last year's Ukrainian Eurovision Song Contest winner Ruslana.
The task of collecting the photographs from every particular Eurovision-participating state was laid upon the Heads of National Delegations during their last visit to Kiev in late March to survey the preparations for the contest. The photographs are to be provided in early May in order to be properly installed in the Sports Palace.
