The company which will provide security services on the scene of the Palats Sportu will be defined by a tender. Other security sectors will be controlled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Emergency Ministry, a department of State Security and the Security Service of Ukraine. Host broadcaster NTU said that today.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs will secure safety around the venue, while traffic police will supervise the traffic in the adjacent territory around the venue. Traffic police will also secure the safety of delegations during sightseeing tours and transportation. Metal detector gates and X-ray controls will be installed at the entry points of the Palats Sportu venue.
The Emergency Ministry will provide a fire brigade and a team of medical experts to secure the health of the guests as well as control of the use of pyrotechnics and illuminations. A department of State Security will guard the VIP-guests and will examine all equipment used for the contest. Their most important 'object of security' will be president Victor Yuschenko along with his Prime Minister, who will both honour the contest with their presence. Detailed information about their presence is not available at the moment.
The Security Service of Ukraine has the responsibility to avoid possible acts of terrorism. For security reasons, the Palats Sportu underground station will most likely be closed as it's located nearby the venue. The 13 hotels, the EuroClub and other places where participants, journalists and other guests gather will also be intensively guarded.
In the past years, these security measurements have become more or less common.
