The telecoms giant, originally formed from the national telecoms companies of Sweden and Finland, TeliaSonera, has been once again named as the official presenting partner of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.

The announcement was made by European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Director Media Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser today, 21 November. The company, the fifth largest telecoms company in Europe, was also the presenting partner in Helsinki in 2007. Through the partnership TeliaSonera has been granted extensive pan-European media, association, event and new media rights for the upcoming events in Sweden.

We have been partnering with the Swedish contest for a number of years. Now we want to take it one step further by bringing hundreds of millions of people closer together than ever before for a great celebration in May, says Cecilia Edström, Head of Group Communications at TeliaSonera to eurovision.tv.  As one of Europe’s leading operators we are perfectly positioned to use our international strength, deep local understanding, technological mastery and insight into people’s lives to help make the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 the most networked and personal digital experience ever.

TeliaSonera is also a major shareholder in last year’s telecom presenting partner Azercell.
