PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster has announced that a total of 182 songs have been received in order to compete at the 2013 Maltese Eurovision national selection.  The broadcaster will now have to pick the lucky 24 songs to compete in the 2013 Maltese Eurovision national selection.

A record 182 have been entered for this year’s Eurovision song contest qualifier in Malta. The selection process will have to weed these down to 24 finalists. The finalists will be announced in the last week of November on the TVM programme Xarabank. The chosen will then participate in the Malta Song for Europe and the winner will represent Malta in this year’s Eurovision.

Malta debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and yet is to win the event. The country’s best score at the contest has been a 2nd placing in 2003 with Ira Losco and in 2005 with Chiara.
