Oleksandr Savenko has stepped down from his position as president of NTU, the Ukrainian national broadcaster. His resignation was accepted by Ukraine's President, Viktor Yushchenko. The name of his successor should be announced in the coming days. NTU is the host broadcaster of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.

Oleksandr Savenko would not be the only person to resign from his position. According to spokeswoman Irina Gerashchenko other resignations will follow.

Svante Stockselius, the European Broadcasting Union's executive supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, will be in Kiev next week. On his agenda are meetings with NTU. Svante Stockselius will be given an update on the new situation and the progress regarding the organisation of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.

The 2005 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Sports Palace of Kiev and will consist of a semifinal on 19th May, followed by a final on 21st May.
