The Swiss national broadcaster Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen, together with RTS, RSI and RTR have started the selection process for the 2013 Swiss Eurovision Song Contest entry for Malmö. Like in previous years the rules state that they are looking for a strong song of an international standard. The artists and songwriters don’t need to be Swiss residents or citizens.

The first stage is an internet selection, which lasts all September until 1 October. Internet users will be able to vote for their favourites later in October, votes are limited to four per voter. There will also be a professional jury judging all the submitted songs. The 4 songs with the highest combined vote (50% internet/50% expert jury) will take part in the televised final on 15 December.

RTS (French) has three places in the national final and RSI (Italian) two places. The entries will be decided by the regional broadcasters. If the same song gets selected in the regional selection and the internet selection, the next placed songs from the internet selection will go to the final on those places. The winner of the national final will be decided by televote on 15 December from the nine qualified entries.

The Swiss Italian broadcaster, RSI, whose entry Sinplus was the Swiss entry in 2012, has also published the rules for their regional final. Songs can be submitted until 30 September directly to RSI.

According to the website Eurovision fr.net the Francophone broadcaster RTS will select their three entries internally and the selection is already underway.

The first seven song videos already uploaded until today to the internet selection are available to watch at  the Swiss Eurovision website and more will appear as they get submitted.
