The first round of the Belgian selections for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest have finished. The 110 songs, submitted by the deadline of 3rd January, have been judged and reduced.
The first selection round took place this week. 110 songs have been judged by a jury consisting of eight representatives of RTBF, Belgium's radio and television broadcaster for the French speaking community. In the second round of the Belgian selections for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, all songs that have proceeded will have to be performed live for the same jury.
After the second round, RTBF will decide whether it will internally select the Belgian representative for Kiev or whether, in case of high quality of the performances, a national final will be held. A final decision will be made at the beginning of February.
RTBF had appealed to the established professionals and semi-professional artists of the French speaking community of Belgium to submit songs and aims to select a song mainly or completely in French in order to represent Belgium's French speaking culture in Kiev.
Belgium will appear in the semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contets, to be held on 19th May in Kiev.
