The list of the first eight artists or groups that will compete in the first of total seven semifinals in Lithuania has been revealed. The first semifinal will take place this Saturday, 8th January. A total of 21 songs will compete in the Lithuanian national final organised by broadcaster LRT.

The website Delfi has presented the list of the eight performers or groups that are the participants in the first semifinal in Lithuania, these are:

The Road Band
Soft Rain
Dvyniai
Bugs Band
Smogazz
Nasa
Atika

The first semifinal will be broadcast on Lithuanian TV (LRT) at 20:00 CET or 21:00 local time this Saturday, 8th January.

Three of the best songs from each semifinal will reach the final. Six semifinals will have a total of eight songs but one semifinal will only have six songs, from that semifinal only two of the best songs will reach the final. Televoting by SMS and phone calls will decide the outcome. Every hundred voter in Lithuania wins 2 tickets to the Lithuanian national final. One of the lucky voters will also win a journey to the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. A jury will choose one song more to add to the final from the 33 songs that remains and don�t reach the final after the initial televoting during the semifinals.

A total of 21 songs will be competing in the Lithuanian national final that will be held in Kaunas, 26th February, 2005. The winner will represent Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest. Lithuania failed to reach the final last year in Istanbul, therefore Lithuania again must take part in the semifinal of Eurovision held on 19th May in Kiev.
