Latvian Broadcaster LTV has received 64 songs for their national selection Eirodziesma 2005.

A jury, consisting of international and Latvian experts, will select 20 songs to compete in the semi finals. More information on the entries and performers will be provided at a press conference, early December.

There are some new features regarding Eirodziesma 2005. First, according to the changes in the song submission rules, one of the authors of an entry may be a person who does not hold the Latvian citizenship. Second, during two semi finals, both television viewers and a jury will select 10 songs, who will participate in the final. The selection of the winning song in the final remains the same as it was this year. Televoting will determine 3 entries, who will take part in the Grand Final to get the ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev.

The Latvian semi finals will take place on 29th January and 5th February. The national final of Eirodziesma 2005 will be held on 26th February in Ventspils.
