The Eurovision Song Contest runner-up of the year 2000, Russian singer Alsou, has been asked to record a new song for the English soccer team Chelsea.

Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich asked Alsou to record a new song for fans to sing along with at games. Alsou is the daughter of Ralif Safin, one of the founders of Russia's largest oil company Lukoil and represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000. With Solo she reached the second place.

Alsou confirmed she has accepted the offer form Abramovich. Vadim Baikov, spokesman for the Russian pop star, said they'd now be looking for someone to write the words and music for Alsou.

For the recording contract, Alsou will receive about � 15.000.
