The couple Simon Gomilsek and Diana Lecnik, otherwise known as Platin, appeared at the first press conference for Slovenia this afternoon. As well as being the artists, they are also the composers of the song Stay Forever, and described winning the EMA (the Slovenian national final) as “Like winning with your baby”

Whatever the outcome of the qualifying round the couple will be celebrating on Thursday 13th May, by getting married in Istanbul. They see this as a natural progression from the Slovenian final when during the final concert Simon surprised Diana by putting an engagement ring on her finger.

They regard the Eurovision Song Contest as a once in a lifetime achievement, but that getting married you do “Once in your life!”

They were also asked the usual question as to whether they had received advice from previous Slovenian entrants. They replied that they had received loads of advice, mainly on what to expect, how the whole event works, and what were the good and the bad points of competing in the contest.

As to whether they had been happy with the promotion of the song, they were pleased with the airplay the song had received both in and outside of Slovenia/ The head of delegation pointed out that in the past they had made video productions and not achieved any significant results. A video “Doesn't matter”, as it is the live performance that the audience will see and judge upon.

As to the process of a qualifying round and final, they said it was “Hard to find a fair solution, but we hope to be in the final”, and added that if it weren't for this new system they wouldn't be here in Istanbul due to the placing Slovenia received in the 2003 contest. The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the highest rated programmes in Slovenia and is attracting “a lot of young viewers”.

Slovenia participates in the qualifying round on 12th May.
