The video of James Fox's Hold on to our love, the United Kingdom's entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, was exclusively aired for the first time this evening on UK satellite music channel The Box. The song is to be released in the UK on 5th April.

In the video, James is simply playing his guitar, surrounded by friends. The video shows the relationship of James and his 'lover' spending intimate time together. She also watches him play, and they enjoy each others with the city in the background. It is clear that a lot more effort and money has gone into the video and general media promotion than in previous years, as James prepares for the contest, now less than two months away.

However, there has been doubt in the United Kingdom about whether James can succeed at the Eurovision Song Contest. During the selection, Making Your Mind Up, back in February, critic Carrie Grant said that she believed the song to be good chart material but she wasn't sure if it would be a song suitable one for the Eurovision Song Contest and a song Europe would vote for. Previous winning songs have been more uptempo, namely Turkey’s recent win by Sertab Erener with, ‘Everyway that I Can’, as well as Marie N's win for Latvia in 2002 with I Wanna, and the Estonian song Everybody back in 2001. However it was with a ballad in 2002, that the UK gained its highest score since 1998 as Jessica Garlick came joint third with Come back. The last ballad inclined song to win, was Eimar Quinn for Ireland in 1996, singing The Voice. But as results from the past cannot predict future rankings, we'll know the answer at 15th May around midnight…
