German dance act Scooter, participants at this year's German preselection on March 19 and well-known for their unique brand of techno music, were awarded best National Dance Act at the German Echo Awards this Saturday. The Echo, a statuette awarded for the most successful music acts of the last 12 months in Germany, is something of an equivalent to the American Grammy.
In their category “Dance Act”, Scooter were nominated amongst four other bands:
Groove Coverage, Master Blaster, Snap! and Special D. There are 26 categories for Echo awards. Most successful act of the evening were electro punk band Wir sind Helden, winning four prizes as Newcomers Radio, Newcomers National, Newcomers Video (for Müssen nur wollen) and Marketing.
If Scooter will be able to repeat their success at the German final remains to be seen. This year's national preselection sees a highly competetive participants field, including other Echo nominees like Laith Al-Deen, Patrick Nuo and Overground.
