Tina Frank is the 9th participant of this year's German preselection, as broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) announced today. Her song is Ich schenk' Dir mein Herz (I give you my Heart).

Tina's voice may sound familiar to some – she sung background for soap star Oli P., who sold many a record in Germany in the past. A first attempt of a solo career failed in 2000. Her song Ich schenk' Dir mein Herz is the title track of the movie soundtrack to Derrick – the cartoon, featuring Germany's best-known TV commissar as he tries to resolve a murder behind the scenes of the German preselection to the “European Song Contest”. A cartoon version of Tina Frank also appears in the movie, which is scheduled to hit the screens in April. Frank's song will not be featured on music channel Viva's Eurovision specials Euroclash.

As Dr. Meier-Beer of NDR declared today, there are up to three wildcards still to give away for the German final on 19 March. “A precondition for further offers is that the songs are an enrichment to the recent participants field and that they enter the charts,” he said. NDR already blocked time slots for the rehearsal of Max Mutzke, winner of Stefan Raab's casting show SSDSGPS, anticipating that his song Can't wait until tonight will sell enough records.
