Amsterdam heats up for Dutch final

At 21:00 CET the final of the Dutch Nationaal Songfestival 2004 kicks of in the Amsterdam Pepsi Stage, where esctoday.com reports live about what happens behind the stage. The esctoday.com headquarter is located in Amsterdam, where the final of the Dutch selection takes place. After four semifinals and a wildcardround, ten songs and participants got placed for the final.

After the ten songs have been performed, former Dutch Eurovision Song Contest participants will sing a medley together, featuring the number three of last year's Dutch Idols Hind and Sandra Kim, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 for Belgium with J'aime la vie.

Last year, the semifinals' viewing figures suffered under the impressive popularity of the first Idols season in the Netherlands. This year, viewing figures were significantly higher. Facing that the Netherlands has 16 million inhabitants, 700.000 is not thát much. It's expected that around 2 million people are going to watch the final.

The press interest for the final is quite big. More than 40 different media will be represented tonight.
