Ludwig and Julie Zahra won the Song for Europe final this Saturday and will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul. Their song is On again… off again, written by Phillip Vella and Gerard James Borg, who also composed Seventh Wonder, the Maltese entry and runner-up of the 2002 contest.

Due to technical problems in the processing of SMS messages, the final result was given around 01:00 CET. Ludwig and Julie were the most popular singers of the evening with the televoters and were also backed up by the jury.

Olivia Lewis came second, while Fabrizio Faniello finished third, with a performance not dissimilar to Sertab Erener's dance routine at the 2003 contest. Ruslana, the Ukraine's representant, performed as one of the interval acts.
