The 14th gala of Operação Triunfo took place yesterday night. Katiliana left the academy as she received 47.8% of the votes whereas Fábia harvested 52.2%, and so the five contestants to compete for the three places of the final were Gonçalo, Fábia, Francisco, Pedro and Sofia.

For this programme the world famous Brazilian pop star Daniela Mercury was invited to perform and state some comments on the contestants. In the end she made quite a pleasant surprise.

The big moment came when the host Catarina Furtado and Daniela Mercury made public the names of the three contestants that made it to the final (in ascending order); Francisco, Gonçalo and Sofia. At the end of the show Daniela Mercury stated that she liked Katiliana very much and invited her to perform at the next Carnival of Bahia in Brazil.

Next week the definite OT winner is to be selected, and the songs that these three finalists will sing are as follows;
1. Francisco – Caminhos singelos (Simple Paths) by Rosete Caixinha (probably the Rosete from OT1) and Múcio Sá.
2. Sofia – Foi magia (It was magic) by Paulo Neves
3. Gonçao – Novo e Clássico (New and Classic) by Américo Faria

Whoever wins next week's grand slam final will defend the Portugese colours at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
