Greek-born Vicky Leandros, 1972 Eurovision winner for Luxembourg, has just released a new, Greek album. The album contains covers of Mikis Theodorakis songs, who is perchance most known as the man behind the music in the movie Zorba the Greek from 1964.

The album has been recorded in Germany, where Vicky now lives, and completed in Greece. At the same time it has been released in Germany, Switzerland and Austria with a German translation of the lyrics.

Vicky Leandros – born as Vasiliki Papathanasiou on 23rd August, 1952 to Leandros and Boubou Papathanasiou – is also preparing an English version of the album for the rest of the European market. She won the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest representing Luxembourg with Aprés toi, but made her first Eurovision appearance in 1967 for the same country, then singing L'amour est bleu, which came 4th.

Before her Eurovision appearances she was already fairly settled in German showbiz, and has for decades been fixed inventory on the German 'schlager' stage.
