Austrian broadcaster ORF invites a talented singer without a record deal to participate in the national final song.null.vier. One wildcard is reserved for a newcomer, while the other nine contenders will be established Austrian acts, supplied by the country's record companies. Entries are accepted until February 2.
As in neighbouring country Germany, the entries for the Austrian final are usually supplied by the country's leading record companies. This year, ORF decided to give away one wildcard to a “young musician, who was not yet detected by a talent scout”. An internal jury will select one song from all entries which are send to the broadcaster until February 2nd.
“A certain stage experience is generally expected. A submission, which has to be a new composition, has to contain the song, its lyrics and the singer(s). Songs are not allowed to have been commercially used before October 1st, 2003. All participants have to be 16 years old at least”, ORF specifies in its press release. It is also pointed out that the song should not be able to “discredit the Eurovision Song Contest”.
Submissions should be send to ORF, Keyword: “song.null.vier”, 1136 Wien, Austria. The preselection is expected to be aired in the first weeks of March 2004.
