Tonight Slovenia decides upon their 25th Eurovision act! Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA) 2019 will select the Slovene representative for the 23rd time.

Ten acts will compete for the Slovenian ticket to Tel Aviv tonight. Of tonight’s acts, two will proceed to a Super Final, and the eventual winner will be chosen from those two. The show will be hosted by the successful actress and TV hostess Ajda Smrekar.

Tonight’s competitors are:

  1. Kim – Rhythm back to you
  2. Renata Mohorič – Three bridges
  3. René – Ne poveš
  4. Fed Horses – Ti ne poznaš konzev
  5. Ula Ložar – Fridays
  6. Lumberjack – Lepote DNA
  7. Okusticni – Metulji plešejo
  8. INMATE – Atma
  9. Zara Kralj & Gašper Šantl – Oprosti
  10. Raiven – Kaos

How will the winner be chosen?

Tonight’s winner will be chosen by two rounds of voting. In the first round, the jury panel will select two finalists out of the ten to proceed to the Superfinal. Each juror assigns a score of 1 (lowest score) to 5 (highest score) to each song, with the top two being determined by the songs that receive the highest overall scores when all the jury votes are combined. A tie break will occur by giving priority to the song(s) that achieve the higher number of top scores.

In the Superfinal, the winner will be determined by 100% televoting. In case of technical problems with the televote, the jury would have voted to determine the winner in a similar process as in the first round of the competition.

How to watch

EMA 2019 will begin at 20:00 CET and can be watched via the following channels:

Slovenia at Eurovision 2018

Slovenia were represented by Lea Sirk with her song Hvala, ne! at Eurovision 2018. She qualified for the final, being the first Slovene act to do so since 2015, but unfortunately only reached 22nd place. Many viewers will remember her performance for the faux blackout she staged.

Slovenia will compete with the winner of tonight’s competition in the first half of the first semi-final at Eurovision 2019.
