The London Eurovision Party is proud to announce that Nicki French, who represented the UK in 2000 Eurovision Song Contest, will be returning to the event as Paddy's co-host. Joining Paddy on stage for the first two parties at our previous home of the Scala, Nicki and Paddy were a fantastic combination, and this year Nicki and Paddy will once again reunite to provide some great commentary through the evening. Since August 2010 Nicki has been busy touring the UK with a variety of roles in the musical Annie, but was determined to be at this Eurovision Party on her one day off. Already confirmed for the London Eurovision Party are Poli Genova from Bulgaria, Glen Vella from Malta and Hotel FM from Romania.

NICKI FRENCH

Nicki is probably best-known for her dance version of Total Eclipse of the Heart which topped the charts around the world in 1995. More recently, in 2000, she was the UK’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden with Don’t Play that Song Again and won The Weakest Link Eurovision Special a few years later, raising over £13,000 for Cancer Research.

In 2003 she was the only British artist to feature in an ABC Television special in Los Angeles, The Disco Ball – a 30-Year Celebration, filmed at the Shrine Auditorium, home of the Oscars, along with Gloria Gaynor, Whoopi Goldberg, KC & the Sunshine Band, Chic, Irene Cara, Usher… and in 2005 she travelled to Sydney, where she headlined the Australian Mardi Gras celebrations, a huge honour. In 2007 Nicki was part of the original London cast of the hit show Menopause the Musical where she first worked with Su Pollard. She has subsequently been part of the casts in all the Irish and UK productions, and has now played three out of the four roles throughout her connection with the show. In March 2010 she had just 24 hours’ notice before taking over the role of Housewife in the Dublin run, due to the leading lady’s illness! Before this Nicki had worked on many touring shows, being cast in such notable roles as Laurey and Ado Annie in Oklahoma!, Sonia Walsk in They’re Playing Our Song Mabel Normand in ‘Mack & Mabel’, Victoria in ‘Victor Victoria’ and Sally Bowles in ‘Cabaret’. Nicki also works with her live band, performing at venues all over the world.

In August 2009, she returned to her ‘second home’ of Brazil, where she has a huge following, touring for a month with a Greatest Hits style show, having performed there for the first time in ten years back in 2007 to sellout audiences. Nicki took on her first pantomime in 2008, playing Queen Genevieve in Chipping Norton Theatre’s highly-acclaimed production of Sleeping Beauty for three months. In 2009 she played Fairy Godmother in ‘Cinderella’ at the Brindley Arts Centre, Runcorn, starring alongside Syd Little, Leah Bracknell and Aiden J Harvey.
