Cyprus: Special Eurovision show tonight

CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster will be airing a special Eurovision show tonight at 21.15 CET. The show will be aired on RIK 1 and RIK Sat (via satellite). Eurovision fans will be treated to a tribute show to the Cypriot participation at the Eurovision Song Contest. European viewers can follow the show via webcast on RIK online.

Cyprus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with the group Island who sang Monika achieving a very respectable 6th placing in Dublin. Cyprus is yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest.Their best placing at the contest has been 5th in 1982 with Anna Vissi, in 1997 with Chara and Contantinos and in 2004 with Lisa Andreas.

A special tribute show celebrating Cyprus´s participation at the Eurovision will be aired tonight at 21.15 CET. The show will be aired on RIK1, RIK Sat and a webcast will be available for viewers overseas. You can watch the webcast here

Christos Mylordou was chosen to be the Cypriot representative for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest whenr he wonthe local talent-show Performance, held afew months ago. He will try to make his country qualify to the grand final for the second time in a row.Cyprus will be competingin the Second Eurovision Song Contest 2011Semifinal, scheduled to be held in Düsseldorf on the 12th of May.
