RTVA, the Andorran national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Andorra will not participate at the forthcoming 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.

2019 will mark the 10th anniversary of the country’s last Eurovision participation, namely Andorra last graced the Eurovision stage in Moscow in 2009 with Susanne Georgi. The country withdrew from the contest in 2010 due to its poor results and the financial strain entailing its participation.

The Andorran broadcaster has informed ESCToday that Andorra not return to the competition next year either.

Andorra and Eurovision

Andorra debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 with Marta Roure. The country has never qualified to the Grand Final.  The tiny nation has competed 6 times in the contest (2004-2009). The country introduced Catalan to the contest having performed 3 of its entries entirely in the language, whilst the latter three were performed in English/Catalan.

Jennifer represented Andorra in Eurovision 2006 with Sense tu.

Eurovision 2019

Israel won the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with Netta‘s Toy and has the right to host the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The dates and host city for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest are yet to be determined.
