Tonight will see the first Semi Final of the Norwegian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. Seven songs will compete two places in the final and two places in the Siste Sjansen in order to represent last years host, Norway.

The seven acts competing tonight with hope of making the final are:

  6. SichelleTranger mer(Lyrics and music: Christine Dancke)

Song 1. Carina Dahl Guns and Boys

Carina enters the stage wearing a sexy outfit with a jacket. Her vocals are great and the staging works very well, with her backing singers and dancers wearing army-like outfits. a lot of smoke and shot sound are used throughout the performance. Carina will be happy with her performance. The song gained 11.6% in our esctoday.com poll, in 3rd place.

Song 2. Use me Daisy

The song is well presented on stage and the group look confident and professional on stage. Vocals are very good and the song seems to be going doen very well in the arena. We have pyrotechnics on stage which adds to the performance, which generally went very well. In the esctoday.com poll Use Me ended 4th with 6.3% of the vote.

Song 3. Helene BøksleVardlokk

Helene begins the song with a green background which quickly changed to blue. Helen is wearing a cream dress with flowers on it and is met on stage with one other person. Green lasers are used just before four other instrument players are introduced on stage. Helen's vocals cannot be faulted and the song seemed to go down very well with the audience. According to the esctoday.com poll Helen should pass straigh to the final as she won out poll with 48.1% of the votes.

Song 4. Sie GubbaAlt du vil ha

The group have a similar set up to Use Me although with a very different song. This entry sees the come back of the violin to Melodi Grand Prix. All performers are wearing black on stage and are backed with an orange and blue background. Once again vocals are very good. The audience once again react in a very positive way. Three members join at the front of the stage for the end of the song. This song ended last in our esctoday.com poll with 2.6% of the vote.

Song 5. Gatas ParlamentJobbe litt mindre og tjene litt mer

The performance starts with two members on stage. The stage is set out with an elephant speaker as well as an arrangement of other items. Two members are off the stage and walk onto the stage up steps. All members are dressed in black. Vocals were good and the song went down well. The group looked like what can only be described as a hip hop boyband. The song ended 6th in our esctoday.com poll with 5.8% of the vote.

Song 6. SichelleTranger mer

Now we see the return of Sichelle in Melodi Grand Prix, looking very like Leona Lewis and is backed by a pink background, we see a close up of Sichelle from the beginning. When the camera moves out we see Sichelle wearing a black and pink dress with red and white lights behind her and her five backing singers/dancers. Huge applause are heard from the audience throughout the song and her vocals are very good. A very modern song from Sichelle. This song ended 2nd in our esctoday.com poll with 19.6% of the vote.

Song 7. Åste& RikkeNot that easy (Ah-åh-ah-åh)

We now come to the final song of the evening. Åste& Rikke are on stage, one dressed in pink and one in black. We can seefour silhouettes of backing singers on chairs behind them. Vocals are good. The song is performed very well and it shows a contract of jazz and hip hop. The performance is backed with blues and whites. Pyrotechnichs are used which the audience seemed to appreciate by their reaction. Well performed song. This song ended 5th in our esctoday.com poll with 5.8% of the vote.
