It has now been decided which song will represent Finland at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest! Saara Aalto will be competing in the first semi-final this coming May with the song entry Monsters.

Earlier this evening, Finland determined their song entry for the upcoming Lisbon-hosted Eurovision Song Contest, determined during the nation’s returning national final, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK).

As was revealed back in November, Saara Aalto has become the first internally selected artist for the country, with UMK to be the selection option to determine the nation’s song for the competition.

Three songs, one winner!

With each of the 3 entries being unveiled throughout February, tonight it was down to both the Finnish public and international jury to select the country’s song entry for Eurovision.

Monsters, Domino and Queens were the 3 entries competing in tonight’s national final, with Aalto performing 3 different routines to suit each bidding song. There was plenty of energy and power throughout the Espoo Metro Areena tonight!

Spice Girls member, Melanie C, performed as an interval each at tonight’s show, treating the nation to her past hit, I turn to you.

Following a combined vote, it was decided that Monsters should become the 2018 Finnish entry at the Eurovision Song Contest, the song of which winning both the public and jury vote this evening.

Finland and Aalto will be competing in the second half of the first semi-final on the 8 May, hoping to qualify to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest on the 12 May.
