The Netherlands: Ilse DeLange receives prize at DCMA Awards

Ilse DeLange, Dutch artist and frontwoman of The Common Linnets, adds another award to her collection.

Ilse DeLange has received the award for Best Female Vocalist at the 33rd Dutch Country Music Association Award Gala 2017, which took place on the 25 November in Leerdam.

A popular and successful artist, solo and as frontwoman of The Common Linnets (Eurovision 2014), Ilse DeLange shared the happy news on her official Facebook page:

About Ilse DeLange

Ilse DeLange (born Ilse Annoeska de Lange, Almelo, 1977) is one of the most popular female artists of the Netherlands. A singer-songwriter, she performs is a variety of musical styles, including pop music and pop rock, but is mostly known for her dedication to pure country and bluegrass.

In 2014, Ilse DeLange represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark, with her country initiative The Common Linnets and guest vocalist Waylon, a well-known singer in the Netherlands.

With their entry Calm after the storm, a dark country ballad, The Common Linnets won Semi-Final 1. Ultimately, The Common Linnets and Calm after the storm reached an honourable 2nd place in the Grand Final, receiving 238 points.

They also received two additional Marcel Bezençon Awards, the Artistic and Composer Award.

Following Eurovision, Waylon, who was invited as a guest artist in the band, decided to focus on his solo-career again. He will return to the Eurovision stage at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Calm after the storm became a huge hit across Europe, and paved the way for The Common Linnets’ international breakthrough. They also ventured into the United States, delivering the theme song We don’t make the wind blow for the TV-show Wayward Pines. The band has won numerous national and international awards.

Ilse DeLange is currently working on new music, for The Common Linnets and solo-material.
