The Russian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was held tonight. Last year's ost country selected The Peter Nalitch Band to represent the country in Oslo with the song Lost and forgotten.

The Russian final took place at RTR studios as a mixture of tele-voting and a professional jury selected The Peter Nalitch Band. The show hosted by Oxana Fyodorova and Dmitry Guberniev also featured last year's Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak and Dima Bilan as special guests. Originally the Russian winner in 2008 was to compete in the show but later withdrew.

The 2010 National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year – you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh. You can vote for your favourite performance not to qualify in the Russian national final here and for your favourite song not to qualify here.

The Peter Nalitch band will be the 14th Russian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest. He will compete in the first semi-final to take place on 25th May.
