The first out of two semi finals of Skopje Fest 2010, the Macedonian pre-selection to determine the country's representative at this year's Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Oslo, is about to be held. 14 acts will compete for eight spots in the national final, to be held on Saturday, 20th.

Tonight's hosts, MKRTV presenter Aleksandra Jovanovska and young actress Sanya Arsovska, welcome the audience and elaborate on the procedure of tonight's show: The results will be decided by a mixture of televoting and jury voting, each of them having a stake of 50% in the outcome. The televoting will start at the beginning of the first song and will finish 15 minutes after the end of the last song. Televoting is possible by calling in or sending an SMS. However, the voting will be confined to five times (including calling in and sending an SMS) per telephone number per song. Citizens from Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey can also vote via SMS.

Folk singer Suzana Spasovska came 6th in the 1998 national final with Opomena. This time, she is singing a duet with Darko Nesovski. Bog go ima sekoj kljuc contains some folk elements and the chorus allows both singers to show their operatic voices.

Aleksandar Belov came 3rd in the 2008- 2009 edition of the music talent TV reality show Operacija Trijumf, the same edition in which Vukašin Brajic, the representative of Bosnia & Herzegovina at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, came 2nd. Aleksandar already participated at least year's Skopje Fest, where he came equal 7th with the song Zastani solzi izbrisi. This time, Aleksandar is back with a song composed by the world famous FYR Macedonian classical pianist Simon Trpceski.

To bridge the time before announcing the results, former FYR Macedonian Junior Eurovision Song Contest representatives, Sara Markoska (2009) and Rosica Kulakova and Dimitar Stojmenovski (2007), are performing their own versions of the popular Eurovision songs Fairytale, Düm tek tek, Life, Is it true?, Wild dances and Neshto shto kje ostane.
