Albania at Eurovision

Albania firstly took part at the contest in 2004. The country has always been choosing their Eurovision entrant to be the winner of their annual national competition Festivali i Këngës. The country made a successful debut, finishing in 7th place with Anjeza Shahini and her entry The image of you.

However, their best result came 8 years later, in 2012, when Rona Nishliu made a very strong and extraordinary performance of her Albanian song Suus, which had been discussed a lot. Rona, with her deep voice, made Albania proud and enter the Top 5 for the very first time, coming 5th with 146 points.

These have been the only Top 10 placings for Albania so far. In 2017, the country was represented by the former American Idol participant Lindita and her ballad song World, which won Festivali i Këngës last year under the title Botë and written in Albanian lyrics. However, she didn’t make it to the final, as she finished 14th with 76 points at the first semi-final.

Will Festivali i Këngës discover the next Eurovision winner?
