Results: Two acts qualified in Norway

Tonight, the second semi final of MGP 2010, the Norwegian national selection for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest was held. Seven acts competed and two of them were chosen to take part in the grand final while another two were chosen for the second chance round.

The following acts will compete in the national final on 6th February:

  • Alexander Stenerud Give it to me
    (Alexander Stenerud)
  • Maria ArredondoThe touch
    (Rolf Løvland)

The following acts will compete in the second chance round on 30th January:

  • Venke Knutson Jealous 'cause I love you
    (Laila Samuelsen, Alexander Kronlund, Lucas Hilbert)
  • Heine TotlandThe best of me is you
    (Heine Totland, Hans Petter Aaserud, Arne Hovda)

This was the second of three semi finals. The last seven acts will compete at Fritidsparken in Skien next Saturday.

The esctoday.com poll voters widely agreed with the results in the national final. The two qualifiers Maria Arredondo and Alexander Stenerud had finished second and third in the poll respectively with 26.8% and 22.8%. Poll winner Venke Knutson (30.9%) was given another chance in Siste sjansen. The other second chance entrant however was Heine Totland, who had finished last in the poll with 2.7%.

In 2009, Norway was represented by Alexander Rybak, who won both the second semi final and the final with his song Fairytale. Norway is therefore the host country of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest and directly qualified for the final.
