Finland, who will be a passive participant in the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest, due to be held in less than a month, has already announced its initial plans for the 2004 season.

Although Finland will have to observe the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest from aside as a passive participant due to it's poor result in 2002, the popularity of the contest hasn't decreased, but the contrary has happened.

According to doteurovision.com, Finnish broadcaster (YLE) is now the first to announce its plans for the 2004 season, as Finland will be eligible to be an active participant again: 24 songs will compete at the beginning of January 2004 in two semi-finals. 12 of them will carry on to compete in the grand final, Euroviisut 2004, due to be held in Tampere-Talo, on January 24th, 2004.
